January 10, 2010

Hey Family! Thanks for all the emails and support. You guys are the best! This past week was a pretty good week. We worked hard and I learned a lot. It is so cold here ha. There is a lot of fog and it makes it freezing! Its ok though i still love California. We have been working a lot with less actives and trying to help them come back to church. It has really been interesting to see these people who have kind of lossed their way and forgotten their testimonies. It is sad, but they are lucky the lord will give them a chance to return to him. They need to just recognize that what they are doing is wrong and repent. The stake president talked in our Ward conference yesterday and he talked about the Gospel but he focused on the principle of repentance. Repentance is so important. A lot of people look at repentance as a bad thing and are intimidated by that word, but it is a true blessing. A scripture that we have been sharing with a lot of people is in Alma 24:10. It talks about the roles of the godhead in repentance. It is Anti-Nephi_Lehi talking. He thanks his great God that he gave him and his people the opportunity to repent and he talks how they were forgiven through the merits of his Son and how their guilt was swept away. They were able to feel that peace and freedom of guilt through the holy ghost. This scripture is important because he is rejoicing in the blessing of repentance. It is a huge blessing because when we repent, truly repent, we are using and applying the atonement into our lives. The savior loves us. He made the Atonement personal for us, we need to make it a personal atonement with him as well.
We had a baptism on Saturday. It was great. The spirit was there and it was a great service. The missionaries sand a song called, "if the savior stood beside me". I am always reminded of my baptism and confirmation when we have a baptism. It is so special. It is the start of our journey to return to our Father in Heaven. The work is going good. We are working hard to find those who are prepared and ready to recieve the gospel through baptism. There are people prepared, we just need to find them. The spirit will guide us as we stay worthy of his constant companionship.
I love you all so much. Thank you for the support. I am so grateful for the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. We have the truthfulness of the teachings of Christ. I love you all so much. Tell KC happy birthday and I love him. Con mucho amor, Elder Craig Bills
